Macedon Ranges Shire Council
Compiling accurate open space asset data
Council was seeking support to update its open space asset data including condition assessments.
Asset Lab worked closely with Council’s asset team to complete an audit of its 130 parks, reserves and other open spaces spread over diverse and widely interspersed communities.
We performed in-field data capture using the Konect mobile platform and provided visibility of the live data capture to Council officers so that they could monitor our progress and performance.
We verified attribute information including asset type, material, dimensions and condition for 4,537 unique open space assets including fences, park furniture, waste bins, sporting fields and lighting towers. Spatial location and digital images for each asset were also captured. Maintenance defects were also logged according to risk and service-based parameters where required.
Asset Lab provided data in Excel and GIS file formats for transfer to Council’s asset register and GIS and a State of the Assets report summarising the findings of the audit.
This work has resulted in an up-to-date and complete open space asset register for Council to use for future planning and financial reporting.
Asset Lab has successfully performed similar work for the City of Stonnington.
