Monash University and Deakin University
Establishing asset knowledge and enabling better asset planning
Monash and Deakin both needed help to build their asset registers for roads, footpaths, and car parks located across multiple campuses.
Asset Lab worked closely with each university’s asset teams and contractors to understand their asset information needs. Using this insight, we developed asset hierarchies, attribute structures, and business rules for data collection. Road, footpath, car park, and kerb and channel assets were then accurately mapped using differential GPS and relevant inventory data was recorded.
This provided both Monash and Deakin with a complete and accurate digital asset register for their site infrastructure. To build on this, we also completed comprehensive condition and maintenance audits for all assets that were captured.
We prepared a State of the Assets summary report, prioritised works programs, and financial modelling that detailed long term renewal funding demands.
This information now enables each university to plan their asset maintenance and renewal budgets. Additional to this, they can now track their work history and monitor performance at an asset level.
