Maribyrnong City Council
Achieving better compliance
Since 2018 we* have performed proactive inspections of Council’s road and footpath networks which measures approximately 520km of footpaths and 344km of local roads.
This biannual program involves a full and partial network inspection each year. Pathways, roads, kerb and channel, signs and road furniture are all assessed against a variety of defect types and service standards. We also coordinate Level 1 bridge inspections for Council’s bridges and major drainage structures.
This program results in an average of 6,500 defects being identified each year which are reported with type, location (address and spatial), digital images, extent and other information. Council uses this data to assist with its response planning.
All inspections have been completed on time ensuring compliance with Council’s Road Management Plan.
Through our demonstrated experience and capability, Asset Lab has successfully performed similar work for both Moira Shire Council and Yarra Ranges Council, helping each with defect inspections of their footpath networks.
